The Stranger
Hi beautiful friends & family,
I wanted to share with you the wild plot twist in my story. As many have said, a small (albeit serious) chapter in an epic novel bound for many more future chapters.
Last week I was diagnosed with a type of non-hodgkins lymphoma and have been in the hospital while a team of (incredible) doctors and (amazing) nurses make a treatment plan.
For those who find comfort in a Google search, here's the formal title: Primary Large Mediastinal B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Here are the positives (cause you know this girl is an optimist)
- the chemo plan they have put together for me is famous for kickin the heck out of this kind of cancer.
- the mass, or what I have referred to as The Stranger, living rent free in my pericardial condo (chest) is isolated. Meaning it hasn't spread anywhere else.
- Houston is the Mecca for medicine and cancer care. Go us!
- The amount of family and friends I have surrounding me is --- hard to put to words--- I am so grateful.
If you want to send positive and healing vibes please direct it to:
- my heart. She's been doing her job tirelessly despite a bunch of mishigosh happening in her queendom.
- The nurses. My goodness! They make me laugh, they tend to my every need and they are so resilient that it's contagious.
- And sure, I will take all the good feels too! I'm silly and I'm a fighter so most days I'm also making the nurses laugh...and there have been some hard days (as I'm sure there will be more)
Thank you to everyone helping to keep my spirits high. Thank you to everyone keeping my house and cats tended while I flounce around, booty out, in my gown. Thank you to everyone holding me in their heart, sending their prayers and reminding me of the girl underneath all the chaos.
It's an incredible thing to also feel held by my self - a self that's natural resting place is one of optimism and tenacity.
With so much love, Meg
